Spend the summer at QV Melbourne Outdoor Cinema

Summer is the best season to spend more time outdoors. QV Melbourne offers complimentary cocktails or movie snacks at every Outdoor Cinema screening until the end of March, with each weekend featuring pre-film entertainment. What better way to spend the hot season under the sun with your favorite movie, friends or special someone and guess what, your dog? QV Melbourne said the entire Flick/Fest season is also dog-friendly, with furry friends welcomed to lounge alongside their owner’s deckchairs.

You can also expect live performances every Saturday night, such as a Flash Dance flash mob during 80’s week, a strike-a-pose dance-off to Madonna’s Vogue during Fashion Week, a Pitch Perfect song medley during a week of Musicals, plus a performance of La La Land’s opening dance number before the film screens during Oscars week. There’s even a bonus Friday night performance from leading hip-hop crew Superhoodz on 23 March, ahead of a screening of Step Up.

If you’re in Melbourne from 8 – 11 March, QV is also making it a throwback week with 80s favourites including Top Gun, Labyrinth and Stand By Me, with the Flick/Fest Bar serving up free old-school (vodka optional) slushies and retro pick ‘n’ mix lollies. Live entertainment will reignite the 80s vibe with an iconic ‘Flash Dance’ solo followed by a flash mob before The Breakfast Club on Saturday 10 March.

For those young and young at heart, Animation Week is on from 15 – 18 March with free popcorn and fairy floss on alternating nights. On Saturday, 17 March before the screening of Trolls, a posse of dancers and singers will perform the Justin Timberlake hit Can’t Stop The Feeling.

If you love singing, sing-a-long to your favorite musicals from 22 – 25 March with the Flick/Fest bar serving up free pink lemonade, popcorn and fairy floss. On Friday 23 March, the hip hop sensation that is SuperHoodz return to the QV Square with their SDS Crew for a high energy 10-minute show sure to get you in the mood before Step Up screens. Saturday 24 March, sees the hit chick-flick Pitch Perfect brought to life with a live medley from the movie performed by a troupe of talented female vocalists.

Flick/Fest closes with a bang on Saturday 31 March, featuring a surprise screening of a crowd favorite and live entertainment to match from 7:30pm onwards. Chocolate Fairy Floss will get audiences in the Easter spirit.

Moreover, during the Fashion Week in Melbourne, QV invite held a fashion fix at the cinema with a series of stylish films including The Devil wear Prada, The September Issue, Zoolander and Annie Leibovitz: Life through a lens screening from 1 – 4 March. Fashionistas were treated to complimentary Sparkling Pomegranate Vodka Punch from the Flick/Fest bar; a light and refreshing tipple in a deep red hue. QV Outdoor Cinema had their very own ’Blue-steel’ fashion moment to celebrate Zoolander on Saturday 3 March with dancers striking a pose to Madonna’s iconic track, paying homage to the art of ‘vogueing’.

Melbourne’s only silent cinema is located right in the heart of the city on the Astroturf lawn in QV Square. The intimate open-air deckchair cinema remains one of the city’s most affordable outdoor cinemas. Tickets at $12 (plus $1 booking fee) include deckchair seating and high quality headphones for every audience member.

Sessions begin at 8:30pm Thursday to Sunday nights from 1 February to 31 March 2018, with special event screenings commencing at 7:30pm. The Flick/Fest Bar is open from 7:30pm every night.

Film lovers can also wander down Artemis or Red Cape Lane to the open-air courtyard for intimate screenings of QV Outdoor Cinema’s eclectic variety of films. Grab a burger from Grill’d, a Movenpick ice cream sandwich or a dark hot chocolate from Max Brenner and lounge back in an intimate 80-seat deckchair cinema nestled in the heart of the ‘city within the city’.QCV said it represents the quintessential Melbourne lifestyle. Intimate laneways in the urban precinct give visitors the freedom to wander and discover the eclectic mix of shops, cafes and restaurants at their own pace.
